Lens Filter from Hell?

So we woke up to this eerie orange glow outside our window and the first thing I thought of was ‘bushfire!’ but it was just a very pretty dust storm and lucky for us we had all our doors and windows closed unlike some people (fellow renovators) who woke up covered in dust.

You know I never realised how flimsy those curtains are…

Home Alone

Well here I am, bored and home alone in Cherrybrook while Andy is home alone in our new house having a great time no doubt. We might as well be states apart again…

Speaking of states apart, my parents and Mal went to Europe last weekend and they’ll be road tripping their way around there for a month while i take care of the house. They touched down in Paris on our Sunday afternoon and the latest I’ve heard is that they’re in Lourdes and worrying about their car burning up. Chewy is hanging out with  me in the brook and I’ve/he’s been keeping him/me company. Poor thing doesnt like the cold much and I’m a bit of a sucker when it comes to letting him in. Andy came for dinner tonight, he almost stayed all night when I managed to get us both locked out of the house. It’s not as ridiculous as it sounds, there’s a bit of wood that falls down and stops you opening the door from the outside and yeah we had to call Amila to come let us back in. Lucky Andy has his phone on him, unlucky that the only useful number he had was Amila’s mobile phone which died as soon as we rang it…

Anyways, I’m off to watch some Foxtelly. Night nights.

  • I think you have been conned, Chewy lived in Bordertown for a long time and he lived outside all the time, except when Andy let him in the flat, which was not often, because of Doggy gas problems and as u know its a lot colder down here than in Sydney. Anyway its nice to know he is being well looked after and loved
    Love to you from Rod

  • Yeah, but he’s getting old now… Plus I think you’ll be surprised how cold it gets here… That said, Mala and Andrew bought him Poly Kennel, might not be insulated like the one i built him in bordertown, but it definitely has a lot less holes :-p

  • He’s getting old and I’m easily conned so it’s a bit of both really. Chewy’s definitely getting a bath this weekend, he’s becoming a bit stinky and that’s not counting the gas problems.

What to do what to do…

Well this news just came in hot off the press: Andy’s still working on his computer…meanwhile I spent the evening cleaning the apartment for his poker night with work mates tomorrow. Our old neighbour has left as the rent got too steep for him which sucks because he was a really good neighbour. Hopefully the new neighbours are just as good. I’ve been thinking up some ideas for the wedding but it’s still a long way off yet. Oh look some bills to pay. Off I go…

  • Yeah the new ones look like a small family. They have a small car and that’s all that matters. Hopefully the rest of our car mirror stays intact from now on…

Hmmm…..wedding date……interesting you should ask. You know we need Mia for the flower girl so as soon as she start walking we’ll start planning :p But good news is that one of my good friends recently got engaged so I finally have somebody to help me plan stuff so take whatever date it was going to be on and bring it forward by a few months!

Mistaken Identity

Smily here. Well I haven’t blogged in a while but I had to about this hilarious moment. On the weekend I told my parents to go look at my site. I actually meant my portfolio site but they thought I meant this one. My dad couldn’t remember the link so he typed in “Andy and Smiley” into Google which wouldn’t have worked at all as he spelt Smily with an e. But on that list of results something that caught his attention was the link with this title: ‘Andy and Smiley Sleeping Together’ which sounds sooo bad!!! Poor mum freaked out. I won’t spoil the surprise but go ahead and [click here] to check out what it actually turned out to be (don’t worry it’s safe).

In other news I’ve just started my new job as a front end web developer (more design work involved than my previous php developer position) and I’m really liking it so far. As most of you would have already known my last job really sucked (but to be fair they had good perks). My new employer has got a big project coming up that will take a lot of hard work so unfortunately this means we won’t be able to take the time off that we had planned on earlier to drive down to SA but will definitely plan something in the new year.

This blogs a bit boring with all text so here’s some random photo from our Sri Lanka archives:

I’m free!

Hey everybody,

I’m writing this on my lunch break at work.  For those who don’t already know i’ve finally quit Myer! Woohoo! Working 7 days a week at times was getting a bit much and I felt that not being around on weekdays made me less efficient.

Hi Amila! Nice to see you visited the site (and left a comment in the shoutbox). We need to sort out that wireless router for Dad. Have you picked one yet?

Dana there’s a Craft Depot near our place, we’ll go check it out on the weekend.

Rhea just linked me to Kevin Rudds myspace account. Weird….Vote K-Rudd! That should get me some interesting comments…

Rays visit was fun, playing pool on Friday was fun when I beat Ray once. Shouldn’t have agreed to the rematch during which I was slaughtered…for dinner, driving a slightly tipsy Andy and Ray (ok Ray didnt seem drunk at all) to KFC was a dodgy experience. I have a feeling Andy was being extra crazy in the car just to freak me out beacause as soon as he got in front of the counter to order he was alright.

On the Saturday night I left the two boys to play on their own and went to Ribs and Rumbs Grill and Seafood in Gordon for Khristines birthday. They don’t seem to be reviewing too well over at eatability.com but our food was ok. The lamb chops that Mal got were the best, I loved the ribs i got but the steam was defintiely overcooked but I didn’t really mind. The steak knives were pretty crapola tho, didn’t cut through the steak very well at all. Overall the food wasn’t too bad and the ambience was warm and friendly, i’ll probably go again until I get that bad service people keep talking about.

Speaking of steaks, on Tuesday night instead of our usual steak night at the Pennant Hills Inn, Andy invited  Andrea and Rhyl around for a steak dinner at our place. It was fabulous, the Corn was delish and I didn’t mind the steamed vegetables too much. Thanks Andy for a lovely dinner.

Me and Mal went to the Trent Tree Marsh Beauty Boutique in Castle Hill on Thursday night to cash in our beaty vouchers that my Mum had given us for Christmas. I got a "Classique Indulgence – A combination of a Swedish Back Massage and a Classique Facial. Highly beneficial to skin, body and mind." It was really nice and relaxing (the massage was good) but it would have worked out to be $1 a minute and considering i was left alone for ten minutes (with the cucumbers on my eyes) i’m not sure if I would actually pay to repeat the experience…she gave me some samples which was nice.

Our lease expires in August, Annabelle will be leaving the week after it expires. The inspection went fine, apparently all the lady did was walk around. Anyways, back to work. Toodles!
